Assessment FOR Learning

Assessment for learning is that which is primarily intended to cause learning, not just to measure it. This is an especially useful approach to assessment in library media instruction. It emphasizes continuous assessment during the learning process and using the information gained to adjust instruction and help guide individual students toward successful learning. Rick Stiggins of the ETS Assessment Training Institute is the foremost proponent of this approach to assessment.
